It occurred to me last fall that a great (and sneaky) way to buy affordable art is to buy a coffeetable book by your favorite artist, then just cut out a page and frame it. I did this with John Currin and Marcel Dzama. Other cool books are by Stefan Ruiz, Mitch Epstein, Stephen Shore and Joel Sternfeld. There are a bunch out there -- browse through the Strand, or check out art publishers' sites, like D.A.P. and Phaidon. Enjoy...

Affordable Art #7: Coffeetable Books
