The Hudson River Plane Landing
The Hudson River plane crash on January 15th was incredible. After hitting a flock of geese, which clogged the engines, the plane landed on the Hudson River in New York City. "When we touched down, it was like a log ride at Six Flags. It was that smooth," said one passenger. But then, people didn't know if they could get out of the plane. Martin Sosa, who was traveling with his wife and two young children, recalled thinking, “O.K., so you survived the impact, now you are going to drown." Everyone moved to the rear of the cabin, only to find the exit doors there locked tight and water rising. Finally, of course, they made it out to the wings and were all picked up by nearby boats. It was such a heroic story.
Read quotes from the passengers, and watch the animation of the landing above--including actual radio dialogue from the cockpit. Amazing!
